Castor et Pollux: February 2013

A co-production with the Yale Undergraduate Ballet Company, OTYC’s revival of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s 1737 masterpiece marked the first performance of the opera in this country in almost twenty years.  OTYC strove to gracefully pay homage to Rameau’s music, and the generally under-served genre of French Baroque, while making the show suitable for modern audiences through the use of original choreography and projection art. The instrumentalists, dancers and singers benefitted from coachings by experts in baroque style. The production was a landmark for both OTYC and the Yale performing arts community.
